All eligible Minnesota Star Tribune subscribers will receive one year of digital access to everything The New York Times has to offer as a benefit of their Minnesota Star Tribune subscription.
This includes access to The New York Times, Games, Cooking, The Athletic and more.
Am I eligible for one year of access to The New York Times?
Paid print and digital Minnesota Star Tribune subscribers are eligible for this digital subscription benefit.
The following subscribers are not eligible:
- Subscribers who receive access through an enterprise account, including workplace and News in Education (NIE) school accounts.
- Secondary account holders on family or shared subscription plans. Only the primary account holder is eligible to redeem the one-year benefit.
How do I redeem my access to The New York Times?

What if I already have a subscription with The New York Times?
If you already have an account with The New York Times, you can use that account to redeem the benefit. You may also use a different email address if you prefer.
If you want to use a different email address than the one associated with The New York Times account, make sure you are logged out of The New York Times before beginning the redemption process.
Already paying for a subscription with The New York Times? Your existing paid subscription will remain active. You are responsible for managing your existing subscription with The New York Times.
I am a print subscriber. What if I don't have a Minnesota Star Tribune digital account?
You must have a Minnesota Star Tribune digital account before you can redeem your one year of access to The New York Times.
If you are a print subscriber who does not currently have digital access, you will first need to set up your Minnesota Star Tribune digital account.
Sunday-only print subscribers: Because Sunday-only subscriptions do not include digital access to the Minnesota Star Tribune, you will need to set up a digital account before redeeming The New York Times benefit.

How long does my access to The New York Times last?
Your access lasts for one year from the date you activate the benefit, if you maintain an eligible Minnesota Star Tribune subscription.
If your Minnesota Star Tribune subscription ends before the one-year period is complete, your benefit of one-year of digital access to The New York Times will end when your Minnesota Star Tribune subscription ends.
What happens after my one-year of access ends?
At the end of your one-year benefit, you will have the opportunity to continue your digital access to The New York Times at 50% off the regular rate.
To receive and maintain this discounted rate, you must continue to have an active Minnesota Star Tribune subscription.
What is included with my one-year of The New York Times access?
Your one-year benefit includes everything The New York Times has to offer, including:
- The New York Times
- Games
- Cooking
- The Athletic
- And more
You can access these products through The New York Times website and its associated apps.
What happens to my access with The New York Times if I cancel my Minnesota Star Tribune subscription?
Your access with The New York Times is a benefit of your eligible Minnesota Star Tribune subscription.
If you cancel your Minnesota Star Tribune subscription, or your subscription otherwise ends, your benefit with The New York Times will also end, even if you have not yet used the full one-year benefit period.
I have a Minnesota Star Tribune family subscription. Are all account holders eligible?
No. Only the primary account holder is eligible to redeem the one-year benefit with The New York Times.
Secondary account holders on family or shared plans are not eligible for this offer.
I have an enterprise subscription through my employer or school. Am I eligible?
No. This benefit is not available to subscribers who receive Minnesota Star Tribune access through an enterprise account.
This includes workplace and News in Education (NIE) school subscriptions.
Can I access The New York Times through the Minnesota Star Tribune app?
No. The New York Times benefit is accessed separately through The New York Times website and apps.
