As we switch over to our new login and subscription management platform, there are some user-facing changes that you will likely encounter when visiting our site.
Login Changes:
- After the update occurs, you will be asked to sign into your account.
- By logging in, you’ll be able to access content, comment on stories, and manage your account.
- Credentials required at login are changing.
- You will no longer be able to sign in with a username, and will need to sign in with the email address associated with your account.
- Your username will now only be used for commenting.
- You can find more information about the changes to the login process here.
If you're having issues with logging in, please read this article for more information on how to troubleshoot or fill out a support ticket here.
Payments for Digital Subscriptions:
- In order to remain an active subscriber, all digital subscriptions must have auto-renew enabled.
- Read more here about this requirement.
- All digital subscriptions now need to be paid with a digital payment form.
- If you don't currently have a digital payment method applied to your account, you will be required to add one in your account management settings.
Parent Accounts for Shared Subscriptions:
To manage a subscription that shares access across multiple logins, one login must be designated as the Parent (or Primary) account for the subscription.
What is a Parent Account?
- The "Parent" account is the primary email address that will be used to manage the shared subscription.
- All other logins, called "Child" accounts, will have limited access to subscription management tools.
- This does not limit any access otherwise provided by the subscription to any content on our site - it only restricts the login from being used to manage the subscription.
Things to Note:
- Only one Parent account is allowed per subscription.
- In our previous system, there was no requirement for a Parent account, so all active shared subscriptions did not have one identified.
- To try and resolve this, we previously sent a notice to anyone affected by this change, asking to specify which login should be the Parent account.
- If you had responded with this information when the notice was originally sent, this issue should already be resolved.
- Any subscriptions that we did not receive a response for may now have an incorrect Parent account identified.
- For these subscriptions that we did not get a response for, we have defaulted to the original email address first associated with that subscription as the Parent account.
Because of this change, if you're unable to manage your shared subscription while signed in with what you believe should be the Parent login, please fill out this form for assistance.
